We are SO excited to welcome Aly Halpert for a special Singing Circle this May, where we'll gather in-person to sing our hearts out together and experience the joy of Jewish group singing! Aly is a queer Jewish musician, educator, and activist from Philly, who leads music and prayer for Jewish community, including through Hadar's Rising Song Institute, Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action, and Let My People Sing. She believes deeply in the power of music to awaken us to the loss and hope we carry, expand our sense of possibility, and connect us to each other and our collective strength. For more info or to listen to some of Aly's music in advance, go to www.alyhalpert.com. No singing experience or knowledge of Hebrew is required - all are welcome at this Singing Circle event! Special thanks to Chava Mirel and Temple Beth Am for co-sponsoring.
Please register before 12 pm on Friday, May 9th to get the location details in time.
Cost: This program is open to all. Kavana's adult learning opportunities are generally free of charge for our partners, who help to offset the costs of operating the Kavana community by making a generous annual donation. For those who are not Kavana partners, we ask that you chip in $10 per session to help us cover program costs. Please note that there is a free option in case of financial hardship; while it is a value in our cooperative community that everyone contributes something, we also never want finances to be a barrier.
