Rabbi Jay and Bruce Kochis are back for a one-night-only Taste of Mussar session (part 2 will come in June, after Rabbi Jay returns from parental leave). In this time of conflict and polarization, we will turn to Rabbi Amy Eilberg's book From Enemy to Friend: Jewish Wisdom and the Pursuit of Peace. This discussion will touch on how we are processing the suffering in Israel/Palestine, and experiencing the heat of tensions within Jewish community, from the perspective of inner character cultivation - mussar for peacebuilding.
Note: We will explore Amy Eilberg's use of middot (Mussar virtues or soul-traits) more directly in the summer sessions, in chapter five of her book. You are welcome to find a copy of the book and read it fully in advance, but it won't be necessary to dive into the summer discussions.
