If you watched the Shared Legacies film and then attended the "Building Beloved Community" Conversation with the Black-Jewish Clergy Bible Study group this past Sunday evening, please join fellow Kavana community members for a follow-up discussion this Sunday evening! Our primary goal is to create a space where we can reflect and hear from each other about our experiences of the film and program; we also hope to discuss our visions for where we might go from here. Kavana partners Stacy Lawson and Julie Burg have agreed to serve as participant-facilitators. If you haven't done so yet, please take a few minutes to jot down some thoughts in advance of this discussion: 1) Try to summarize the film and the "Building Beloved Community" program in a few sentences that capture the essence of each for you. 2) What did you already know about Black-Jewish relations in the Civil Rights era and since? What did you learn? What struck or surprised you most? 3) What do you think are the most important concerns raised by the film and the conversation? What important issues were not addressed (if any)? Any advance work you do will certainly help springboard our conversation Sunday evening.
