Preparing for High Holidays can add new layers of meaning to the experience, along the lines of "the more you put into it, the more you get out of it." And according to many - including renowned rabbi, writer, and meditation teacher Rabbi Alan Lew, z"l -- preparation for High Holidays begins in advance of Erev Rosh HaShanah.... far in advance! In his beloved contemporary classic "This Is Real And You Are Completely Unprepared," Rabbi Lew charts the High Holiday season -- in his view, it stretches from Tisha B'Av in high summer through the end of Sukkot in the fall -- as a carefully-crafted opportunity for a spiritual journey of introspection, growth, and repair. Rabbi Lew's writing is readable and of exceptional quality -- it is by turns funny and poignant, down-to-earth and deep, and always based in stories from real people's lives. 

We will read select chapters of the book in preparation for each session. 

Series dates are: 8/21, 9/4, 9/18, 10/6 (Sunday), 10/16
