What do Lilith (the demonized first-wife of Adam), striking housewives in New York, and the authors of Jewish cookbooks have in common? Throughout Jewish history, women have found subtle ways of wielding power and in a traditionally male-dominated society. As the matriarch in My Big Fat Greek Wedding said, "My husband may be the head of the family, but I am the neck. And the neck turns the head."

This session, we will look at how women have been erased from Jewish texts, how modern feminists have written their own stories to fill the holes, and different ways that women have stepped up and demanded their voices be heard.

Dinner is included, so come hungry!
