Rabbi Jay and Kavana partners Les and Libby Cohen will host a conversation on how Kavana might support refugee and immigrant communities. Welcoming the stranger, refugee, or immigrant is a core part of Jewish tradition and is mentioned 36 times in the Torah. Our own people’s history as strangers, immigrants, and refugees is a reminder of the many difficulties that immigrants and refugees encounter today. Kavana is a member organization of the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice Northwest (JCIJ-NW). Our central question will be - what kavana / intention do we want to set for our work in immigrant justice? The conversation will include a short text study, and space for questions and ideas about how our community wants to move forward.
