Join Chava Mirel for our monthly Singing Circle! We'll gather in-person to sing our hearts out together and experience the joy of Jewish group singing. No singing experience or knowledge of Hebrew is required - all are welcome!

Please register before 12 pm on Tuesday, June 16th to get the location details in time.

Cost: This program is open to all. Kavana's adult learning opportunities are generally free of charge for our partners, who help to offset the costs of operating the Kavana community by making a generous annual donation. For those who are not Kavana partners, we ask that you chip in $15 per session to help us cover program costs. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Looking for a fun and easy way to plug into Kavana during the summer? We invite you to join us for our Shabbat in the Park series, one of our classic and favorite summer programs! Join us on June 19th to bring in Shabbat as a community, with Rabbi Rachel and Rabbi Jay leading us through the Kabbalat Shabbat service (and, we'll enjoy a catered pizza dinner - yum!). Whether you're a longtime partner or new to our community, we hope you'll join us!

Please note that there is a cost associated with this event. The fee goes towards our park rental, staffing, and the catered pizza dinner. The ticket types are below - can't wait to see you there!

Shabbat Coffee & Torah with Rabbi Sue Reinhold (Saturday, June 20, 2026)

This event is a last-minute addition to our calendar for THIS weekend, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn with Rabbi Sue Reinhold (a longtime friend of Kavana partner Gretchen B and of Rabbi Rachel). Rabbi Sue will be our guest teacher this Saturday morning for Coffee & Torah, with Rabbi Jay anchoring the space for Kavana. We'll be discussing this week's Torah portion, Korah, considering questions like: What makes a rebel? Why are family dramas so intense? Why do we walk into situations where we should know better, but we do anyway? What happens when trauma is repeated and revisited? But, mostly, your questions and comments will guide our discussion! Rabbi Sue lives mostly in Lisbon, Portugal but spends a few months a year near Seattle to be close to family. She's in her fourth year of teaching Torah of Recovery, a weekly Torah study group for people who want to look at addictive tendencies in their lives. All are welcome this Shabbat!

Our next book is called "Mrs. Lilienblum's Cloud Factory" by Iddo Gefen. It is a comic novel about an Israeli woman who invents a machine that turns sand into clouds.

B'nai Mitzvah Cohort (2025-2026) (Wednesday, July 01, 2026)

Program:

On top of Kavana’s highly personalized process, our B’nai Mitzvah Cohort is a program designed to bring each year’s B’nai Mitzvah students and their parents into community with one another through regularly scheduled, facilitated gatherings.

The framework for our cohort is based on a teaching from Pirke Avot 1:2 (a section of the Mishnah called “Ethics of the Ancestors”) which reads: “Al shlosha devarim ha’olam omed: al ha-torah, v’al ha-avodah, v’al gemilut chasadim.” “The world stands upon these three things: upon Torah (learning), and upon prayer, and upon deeds of kindness.” These programs are scheduled approximately as follows:

Session 1 - Fall - Welcoming the new cohort and saying farewell to the old one
Session 2 - Late Fall - Torah: Dvar Torah How-to Session: Text Exploration & Writing Workshop
Session 3 - Winter - Avodah: Shabbat service led by teens from previous B’nai Mitzvah cohorts
Session 4 - Spring - Gemilut Chasadim: Mitzvah/Service Project with a partner organization

At Kavana, it is our hope that the B’nai Mitzvah process will serve as a meaningful entry point into an engaged adult Jewish life. Each and every student’s ceremony and celebration at Kavana is uniquely their own, and the B’nai Mitzvah Cohort connects our families through shared joy, learning, and the key themes within this lifecycle milestone.

Payment Options:
Non-Partner tuition: $3600

Kavana Partner contribution: $1200

*Please note that the price listed in this registration is for payment by check. A 3% processing fee will be added if you choose to pay by credit card.

While there are a lot of costs associated with running this program, we never want tuition fees to be a barrier to participation. If you would like to set up installments or are unable to pay the full cost of registration, please contact us and we can come up with a plan.

Annual Camping Trip (Friday, August 21, 2026)

The annual Kavana camping trip is a staple in our community -- what could be better than a full weekend of camping with Kavana friends?! This weekend is geared towards Kavana partners and active participants -- kids and adults alike -- and is an excellent opportunity to get to know our community better, meet folks you may not usually cross paths with in Kavana, or deepen existing friendships. There will be a mix of scheduled meals and activities in addition to a lot of down time for games, hikes, s'mores, etc.

How to Register:

Complete the registration form. If you selected the "Camping" ticket on the previous page, choose the appropriate "Camping ticket" on this page. If you chose the "Day Trip" ticket on the previous page, please choose the only "Day Trip" option on this page.
Scroll down on this same page and press "Add Guest" to add an additional member of your household. Repeat for each member of your houseld and press "Next" when done.
Complete payment.

What to expect:
This is a two-night / weekend camping trip. Plan to bring your own tents, sleeping bag, and camping gear! Meals will all be very communal - including a coordinated potluck and one catered dinner. We will have Shabbat services on Friday evening and on Saturday morning for those who are interested! There will be lots of time for beach exploration, bird watching, board games, and hanging out with a great crew. Havdalah under the stars!

Day trip option:
This year we're excited to offer an option to join us for just the day on Saturday, August 22nd. Join us for Shabbat morning services, bring-your-own lunch, enjoying nature & community, a catered dinner, and havdalah (or any part of the day that you'd like)! Please note that a discover pass, or paying for a day-parking pass is required for this option in addition to your registration.
