As the sky darkens and the stars come out, we will mark the transition from Shabbat into a time that's totally other... the fast day of Tisha B'Av, a powerful ritual of collective grieving. We'll start with a potluck Seudah Shlishit (Third Meal) -- that is, the sharing of food as we spend the waning hour of Shabbat together -- before moving into Tisha B'Av. Rabbi Josh Weisman (Kavana's new Rabbinic Fellow) will lead a brief text-study and discussion providing the opportunity to reflect on the personal meaning of what has been and is being lost. We will chant and read Eicha (the Biblical book of Lamentations) in a combination of Hebrew and English... All are welcome to join us in grieving together for the brokenness of the world, then and now. We are partnering with our friends at JConnect for this gathering.
