We're excited to welcome the Jewish New Year of 5778 together as a community.  This year, Kavana's offerings for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will be more extensive than ever before!  We'll have a wide range of services and programs -- yoga and meditation, family services/programs, traditional services, liberal services (with instrumental accompaniment), study opportunities for adults and older kids, and meals -- happening in parallel in two different physical locations in Queen Anne throughout the holidays.

Advanced registration is required. As of 9/14, payment is required at the time of registration in order to receive location details.  A complete schedule will be sent to those who register. In the meantime, here's a list of our offerings so that you know what you can expect this year:

    Friday, September 29th - Kol Nidre/Erev Yom Kippur

    • 5:00 pm: Pre-Fast Meal (open to Kavana Partners only)
    • 6:15 pm: Traditional Kol Nidre Service (beginning with candle-lighting) [Venue A]
    • 6:30 pm: Liberal Kol Nidre Service (beginning with Kol Nidre on violin) [Venue B] 

    Saturday, September 30th - Yom Kippur Day

    Venue A (Traditional Services, Family Programs, Kids' Discussions)

    • 9:00 - 11:00 am: Family Services & Program (for preschool & elementary school kids with parents)
    • 10:00 am - 3:00 pm: Yom Kippur Traditional Services 
    • 12:30 - 1:30 pm: Torah Discussions (for grades 3-12) about the themes of Yom Kippur

    Venue B (Urban High Holiday Spirituality Retreat)

    • 9:30 - 10:15 am: Yoga
    • 10:30 - 11:15 am: Meditation 
    • 11:30 am - 1:00 pm: Yom Kippur Liberal Services (Musical & Contemplative Morning Service)
    • 11:30 am - 1:00 pm: Words of the Heart - Creative Writing Workshop
    • 1:30 - 4:30 pm: Spiritual Electives
    • 1:30 - 2:30 pm: Restorative Yoga or Contemplative Walk
    • 2:30 - 4:30 pm: Ethical Mindfulness Workshop
    • 3:30 - 4:30 pm: Hebrew Kirtan Chanting or Silent Meditation

    Venue A 

    • 5:10 - 6:10 pm: Book of Jonah Text Study and Discussion 
    • 6:15 - 7:38 pm: Neilah/Closing Service 
    • 7:45 pm: Communal Break-the-Fast Meal (no special RSVP required; all are welcome)
